Zelda games took a dark turn with The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask back in 2000. Twenty years later, it’s still regarded as a wildly imaginative, twisted adventure through an alternate reality that maintains a constant, creepy pressure. The soundtrack was full of callbacks to previous Zelda tracks as well as its own wholly unique style throughout. One of the standout tracks is the Middle Boss Battle theme.

This one was a real monster of a track with a ton of live brass and really cool instrumental parts throughout. The arrangement changes things into a more unpredictable mixed-meter presentation to take the original piece’s ideas a step further.
