We all love Final Fantasy music, right? Final Fantasy VII getting a modern update with new visuals, gameplay, and audio means we get a whole second soundtrack for Final Fantasy VII–but this time it’s completely modern with live instruments and the rest! I thought it would be fun to go back further to Final Fantasy VI and make a modern update to its battle music.

The video has the whole piece, snippets of the score, and video of the recording process. It is a hybrid orchestra, so the brass is real (the trombone parts are pitch-shifted down) and the rest is virtual instruments. I think it turned out great and is a really cool showcase.
